Actionstep Integration
Divo + Actionstep, for Practice Management and Legal Accounting
Firms on Actionstep Practice Management open their Actionstep matters in Divo through their own Zapier account, and Divo delivers the draft Ontario court forms to their Dropbox or Box. Firms on Actionstep Legal Accounting (formerly Soluno) without Practice Management download a billing file in Legal Accounting's own upload format.
Two ways Divo works with Actionstep
Actionstep Practice Management
Through your firm's own Zapier account: matters and participants in, drafts to your Dropbox or Box, a file note back to the matter.

Actionstep Legal Accounting (Soluno)
Without Practice Management: a billing file in Legal Accounting's own upload format, checked by your team before you upload it.
How it works →
Actionstep Practice Management, through your own Zapier
Divo has no direct Actionstep API connection yet. Instead, your firm's own Zapier account carries matter and participant details from Actionstep to Divo, and carries a delivery event back so your Zap can update the Actionstep matter.
- 1
Matters and participants come in
Your firm's own Zap sends new and updated Actionstep matters, and their participants (client, other side), to Divo. Each matter opens in Divo linked back to Actionstep.
- 2
Documents become reviewed facts
Files don't travel through Zapier, so the matter's documents come from your Dropbox or Box or an upload. AI extracts the facts, each linked to its source page, and your team approves them.
- 3
Drafts go to Dropbox or Box
Divo prepares the draft Ontario court forms for lawyer review and delivers them to the matter's folder in your firm's Dropbox or Box.
- 4
A file note goes back to Actionstep
After delivery, your Zap can add a file note to the Actionstep matter and, if you choose, a time entry that Actionstep syncs to Legal Accounting at the matter's rate.
What Divo sends, and what it doesn't
The delivery event Divo sends to your Zap contains no client names, file names, figures, hours or amounts. Your Zap decides what the file note or time entry says. Documents and drafts never travel through Zapier.
Zapier is on your firm's account
The Zap runs on your firm's own Zapier account, so Zapier acts as your firm's processor. Zapier keeps task history for a limited period and is hosted in the US.
Participants arrive with their Actionstep labels, such as client and other side. Divo never guesses who is the applicant or the respondent from those labels: a person on your team sets those roles in Divo.
Actionstep Legal Accounting (Soluno), without Practice Management
Actionstep Legal Accounting, formerly Soluno, has no Zapier app of its own. Firms that run it without Practice Management use a billing file from Divo instead.
- 1
Set up the file once
A firm admin maps the column headings of Legal Accounting's time and fee upload in Divo's firm settings, so the file comes out in your firm's own upload format.
- 2
Check the rows
Your team picks a date range, then checks each row's matter number and hours.
- 3
Upload to Legal Accounting
Download the file and upload it into Legal Accounting the way your firm already does.
Divo never estimates hours or amounts. They are what your team enters, or a default your admin sets, and your team checks the matter number and hours on every row before downloading the file. Expenses aren't included.
What the Actionstep connection doesn't do
No files through Zapier
Actionstep's Zapier app can't carry files. Documents and drafts go through your firm's Dropbox or Box instead.
No direct Actionstep API connection yet
Practice Management works through your firm's own Zapier account, and Legal Accounting works through the billing file.
No guessed roles
Divo never decides who is the applicant or the respondent from Actionstep participant labels. Your team sets those roles.
No hours or amounts from Divo
The delivery event carries no client names, file names, figures, hours or amounts, and the billing file's hours and amounts come from your team, never from Divo. Expenses aren't included.
Nothing filed
Divo prepares drafts for lawyer review. It files nothing and signs nothing.
How we set it up with your firm
- 1
Scope
On the first call we look at how your firm uses Actionstep (Practice Management, Legal Accounting, or both) and where the matter documents live.
- 2
Connect
As part of early access onboarding, Divo staff work with your team to connect the Zap in your firm's own Zapier account and your Dropbox or Box. For Legal Accounting, a firm admin maps the billing file once in Divo's firm settings.
- 3
Try a matter
Together we open one of your matters in Divo, review the extracted facts, and deliver a draft to your Dropbox or Box.
- 4
Go live
Your team approves the facts, the draft Ontario forms go to your storage for lawyer review, and Actionstep is updated through your Zap or the billing file.
Frequently asked questions
How does Divo work with Actionstep?
Two ways, depending on what your firm runs. With Actionstep Practice Management, your firm's own Zapier account sends Actionstep matters and their participants to Divo, Divo delivers the draft Ontario forms to your Dropbox or Box, and your Zap can add a file note to the Actionstep matter. With Actionstep Legal Accounting (formerly Soluno) and no Practice Management, Divo gives your team a billing file in Legal Accounting's own upload format.
Why do drafts go to Dropbox or Box instead of Actionstep?
Actionstep's Zapier app can't carry files, so documents and drafts never travel through Zapier. Divo delivers the drafts to your firm's Dropbox or Box. After delivery, your Zap can add a file note to the Actionstep matter and, if you choose, a time entry that Actionstep syncs to Legal Accounting at the matter's rate.
What does Divo send to our Zap?
A delivery event for a linked matter. It contains no client names, file names, figures, hours or amounts. Your firm's Zap decides what the file note or time entry in Actionstep says.
Does Divo connect to the Actionstep API directly?
Not yet. There is no direct Actionstep API connection today. Practice Management works through your firm's own Zapier account, and Legal Accounting works through the billing file.
Whose Zapier account does this use?
Your firm's. The Zap runs on your firm's own Zapier account, so Zapier acts as your firm's processor. Zapier keeps task history for a limited period and is hosted in the US. Divo's own data is hosted in the United States (AWS us-east-1) today; Canadian hosting is on our roadmap.
Does Divo work out who is the applicant and who is the respondent?
No. Participants arrive with their Actionstep labels, such as client and other side. Those labels don't say who is the applicant or the respondent, so Divo never guesses. A person on your team sets those roles in Divo.
How does the Actionstep Legal Accounting (Soluno) billing file work?
A firm admin sets it up once in Divo's firm settings by mapping the column headings of Legal Accounting's time and fee upload. Your team then picks a date range, checks each row's matter number and hours, and downloads a file to upload into Legal Accounting. Hours and amounts are what your team enters, or a default your admin sets; Divo never estimates them. Expenses aren't included.
